Moonee Valley Festival (2005-2007)

Ros brought a fresh approach to this highly regarded and established community festival.

Designed as a three-day public event with an opening night spectacular, a Saturday evening event with specially designed firework display and the traditional Queens Park Sunday, the festival grew to embrace an even broader cross-section of the local community and art scene.

Ros directed three Festivals and developed a large scale community project specific to each Festival. In 2007 a 30th birthday parade engaged hundreds of individuals and community groups. In 2006, as part of the cities Commonwealth Games celebration, a series of floating islands representing the islands of the Seychelles was constructed and opened for people to explore. In 2005 an architectural installation by local primary and secondary school students linked festival sites in the form of a stencil pathway while a series of projections by a local artist lit up the sky. The traditional Queens Park Sunday incorporated a main, community and youth stage. Ros designed an interactive performance piece in an oracle bubble and a photo note photobooth.
